Junior Freeskiing Competition at Grand Targhee

Last weekend, some of the best 12-18 year old freeskiers in the country dropped in on Peaked Mountain at Grand Targhee for the Junior Freeskiing World Tour. From the looks of this video, these guys and gals are ready to compete with the big boys, and I am sure we will be seeing their names pop up in the Freeskiing and Freeride World Tours soon enough.

03/22/12 – Elk Attack put out one of their best live performances last night at the Town Square Tavern. The band will open up for G Love at the Mountain Festival at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Saturday March 31st.

Teton Gravity Research Almost Live: Storm Riders

In season 4 episode 5 of Teton Gravity Research’s Almost Live, Matt Philippi, Forrest Shearer and Max Hammer have a fun session riding powder during an epic storm at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. There’s a reason TGR’s headquarters is at the base, right next to the tram — it’s for storm days like this.

First Time on a First Tram

I get Hanna’s text last night at 10pm – “first tram tomorrow?” I’ve never been a first-tram type of girl, but as I thought about other Jackson traditions I’d already crossed off my list – D.O.G.burritos, weekly trips to the post office to pick up my mail (no home delivery out here), Moose hockey games, wearing a beanie at all times, making out with a really hot snowboard instructor – I figured catching “first box” was one I couldn’t leave Jackson without.

03/20/12 – After a quick bootpack, Margaret Nawracaj finds fresh tracks. The ski patrol opened the Headwall, Casper Bowl and the Crags after nearly two feet fell in Jackson Hole.
