Hundred Days – 2nd Annual Ski Joring Championships

Ski Joring is an event with a perfect mix of Jackson Hole’s historic cowboy culture and the new ski bum lifestyle. Presented by the Shriner’s Club as a part of Jackson hole Winterfest, the skier lassos up the horse and rider and hangs on as they are pulled down a track with zig zagging gates and multiple kickers to launch them in the air.

Solo Snowshoe

I am a loner, and I am not afraid to admit it. I enjoy spending time in nature by myself and love living in Jackson Hole because I have plenty of space to get outside with my camera without anyone in sight. In the winter however, my preferred sport of backcountry snowboarding isn’t very conducive to solo missions.

Huckleberry Hot Springs

It’s nice to have good friends come and visit you in this amazing place we are lucky enough to call home. It brings back a joyful sense that reminds you why you came here to begin with, the unique beauty of this place. I was lucky enough to be reminded of this on a recent trip to Huckleberry Hot Springs. Seeing someone’s reaction to experiencing Jackson Hole for the first time is a rejuvenating thing to witness.

Most of us spend our winter days charging down the mountain chasing after friends or face shots. We’re all here for the same reason, 4,139 vertical feet of arguably the best downhill skiing in the country. But uphill?

We arrived at Togwotee Mountain Lodge not quite knowing what to expect. Everything I knew about dogsledding was limited to Jack London novels I read in elementary school. I pictured big, strong pure bred huskies resembling the UConn logo. Other than that, I was clueless.
