Snake River

The Snake is finally dropping to fishable levels, 2800 cfs out of Jackson Lake Dam and 5180 cfs at Moose. There is clear water from the Dam to a few miles below the confluence with the Buffalo Fork, where clarity drops to 2 feet.

Yellow Sallies galore are hatching here with some smaller Golden Stones, Caddis, and PMD’s. Small to medium size Cutthroat are being caught on dry flies in the riffles and slow seams- #10-16 Yellow Stimulator, #14-16 X2 Caddis, #12-14 Pheasant Tail Emergers. Larger fish are eating big Stonefly patterns in faster bank water – #8-10 Golden Chubby Chernobyl, #8-10 Red Willy’s Ant.
