The International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race is the largest of its kind in the continental United States and a popular draw attracting top competitors for its unique stage stop format. Similar to the Tour de France, the stage stop format allows the race to visit towns each night on their way to Park City. Mushers and dogs are able to rest at each stop, earning the race the nickname “the dog friendly race.”
Over twenty teams have registered for the competition. Stage stop #1 in Jackson Wyoming is a short sprint to Snow King Resort followed by a reception, torch light parade and fireworks. This symbolic opening stage is the precursor to a demanding 42 mile stretch on the Continental Divide from Lander to Pinedale Wyoming. The complete race schedule is as follows:
Friday, January 27: Jackson Hole
Saturday, January 28: Travel Day
Sunday, January 29: Lander
Monday, January 30: Pinedale/Cora
Tuesday, January 31: Big Piney/Marbleton
Wednesday, February 1: Alpine
Thursday, February 2: Evanston 1st day of racing
