Teton Ski Areas Update

With just over a month before the chairlifts in the region begin to turn, ski areas in the Tetons are finalizing improvements and preparing their marketing campaigns. Recently, Jackson Hole, Grand Targhee and Snow King released reports listing upgrades and winter deals. We summarize the the shoulder season activity and preview what’s new at each ski area in the Tetons.

Snow King Resort

2011/12 will be Snow King Mountain’s 72nd season of operation. The area will close on Mondays this winter, open Tuesday-Friday: 10am-6:30pm, Saturday & Sunday: 10am-4pm. The season pass price has been cut by $10, to $149, for purchases made through Oct. 31. Terrain park, night skiing Tuesday-Friday, and discounts on tubing, food & beverage and lodging round out Winter Pass Holder Benefits. November 1st pass prices will jump to $259, so there’s still 2 weeks to take advantage of the discount.

Grand Targhee Mountain Resort

Situated on the western slopes of the Tetons, the resort has been busy upgrading its facilities in preparation for the 2011/12 winter season. New this year will be resort-wide charge capabilities for lodging guests as well as ticket and pass scanning for all skiers and riders. In addition, Snorkels Coffee House & Bistro is expanding the number of evening dining options available at the resort and will be open on weekends & holidays for dinner service.

Grand Targhee News

  • October Season Pass Prices
  • Terrain Park Returns Most notably, Grand Targhee plans to reintroduce the terrain park. They have invested in two Prinoth Bison X grooming cats. These cats will be able to sculpt the two lines that Targhee plans to have open by the start of the season.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

With over $4.5 million dollars invested, the resort in Teton Village is prepared to follow up the record breaking 2010/11 season with major infrastructure improvements. The resort constructed a new chairlift, updated the Kid’s Ranch facilities, purchased new snow cat equipment, and expanded snow making capabilities.

Jackson Hole News

  • Nonstop daily flights this year will be from 6 major cities including Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago, Salt Lake City, Denver and Atlanta.
  • The Marmot double chair will carry riders 1200 vertical feet from South Pass Traverse to the top of the Gondola, significantly improving the skier flow across the mountain.

With just over 40 days until opening day, the resort is excited to promote its expanding infrastructure. Look for more media from their marketing team as the season approaches.

TGR Winter Camps

New this year at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, TGR will be hosting a series of winter camps. The camps will be an incredible opportunity to explore the some of the best freeride terrain in North America with dedicated professionals from Teton Gravity Research.
