Golfing in the Tetons
The Lure
Shaping a shot between distant peaks on the horizon adds to the lure of golfing in the Tetons. The sport tends to take a backseat relative to other outdoor activities in our region, but is growing in popularity as more options become available. For visitors, the opportunity to tee it up in such a unique setting adds to the appeal of the sport.
Jackson Courses
Public access is limited to only two courses in Teton County Wyoming: Teton Pines Country Club, Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis Club. Each course ranks as a top facility in the state. Players are guaranteed meticulously manicured grounds, incredible vistas, and challenging layouts. Players are also guaranteed greens fees that correspond with the quality of the course.
Teton Pines Country Club: From the Arnold Palmer Signature Course to the spacious clubhouse and resort amenities, Teton Pines strives to provide guests and visitors with the best of Jackson Hole. Playing 7400 yards from the tips, it is a shooters course. If you have accuracy issues, you might find Teton Pines frustrating, although the links layout provides opportunities for golfers to recover. Teton Pines Country Club
Jackson Hole Golf & Tennis:The valley’s oldest golf resort, JH Golf & Tennis consistently ranks in the top three courses in the state. The course is open for public play in the afternoons. The resort also features a brand new pool and tennis center with a pro shop and instructors on-site. Jackson Golf & Tennis Club
Teton Valley Courses
Idaho’s Teton Valley has become one of the most desirable golf retreats in the past few years with new, premium championship golf courses. Noteworthy events this summer include the grand opening of Huntsman Springs as well as the 2011 Idaho Amateur Open, hosted by Headwaters Club at Teton Springs. Many golfers in Jackson drive Teton Pass to take advantage of the cheaper play offered in Teton Valley compared to Jackson.
Headwaters Teton Spings: The 18-hole “Headwaters” course at the Headwaters Club At Teton Springs facility in Victor, Idaho features 7,400 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 . Designed by Byron Nelson/Gary Stephenson/Steve Jones, the Headwaters golf course opened in 2004. Headwaters Club at Teton Springs
Huntsman Springs:The newest golf course addition to Teton Valley, the course is designed by the acclaimed golf architect David McLay Kidd, winner of GOLF Magazine’s 2008 “Architect of the Year” and who calls Huntsman Springs “my greatest golf architectural achievement.” The course isn’t your average game of golf, it’s an experience. Huntsman Springs Country Club
Teton Reserve: Spectacular scenery abounds in all directions and from tee to green the course nestles beautifully into its natural surroundings. Beneath its good looks, the 7426 yard, par 72 layout has plenty to offer golfers of all abilities, including strategic bunkering and outstanding conditions. Teton Reserve Country Club
Targhee Village: Targhee Village is a relaxed yet surprisingly challenging nine hole golf course nestled in the beautiful foothills of Targhee National Forest. The course is Par 36 – 6,238 yards, and offers a driving range, a practice area. 9 holes starts at just $15, and is $9 before 9am. Targhee Village Golf Course
Star Valley Courses
Aspen Hills: This nine hole par 36 course sets atop a mountain with extraordinary views of beautiful Star Valley, Wyoming. Aspen Hills features the famous 4th hole nicknamed ‘The Tunnel Hole’ which is rated as the hardest hole in the state of Wyoming. The 4th hole is a 554 yard double dog leg par 5 winding between the thick Aspen trees on either side. Aspen Hills Golf Course
Cedar Creek:The 18-hole “Cedar Creek” course at the Star Valley Ranch Association facility in Thayne, Wyoming features 6,446 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 73 . The course rating is 69.7 and it has a slope rating of 121 on Blue grass. The well maintained course nestles up to a mountain side offering beautiful views and changing elevations. Cedar Creek Golf Course
Deals
Unlike other populated areas that can take advantage of websites such as Golf Now, there are few online resources to find discounted rates for tee times in the Tetons. Fortunately, a handful of local courses are catering to the late afternoon golfer and offering great twilight rates.
-
Teton Reserve: $25 twilight rate daily after 3pm

Targhee Village: $25 twilight rate daily after 3pm
