Tossing discs, competitively. The Greater Teton Region features two disc golf tournaments this weekend as both Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and Grand Targhee Resort celebrate the sport.
14th Annual Grand Targhee Classic
The ‘Ghee is home to the regions’ only 18 hole disc golf course. The scenic layout meanders through colonies of Aspens near the base of the resort and is held in high regard for its upkeep and play-ability. Enthusiast from surrounding valleys will flock to Alta WY this weekend in hopes taking home cash prizes, respect, and disc golf fame.

6th Annual Jackson Hole Disc Tournament
Jackson Hole Sports host the first is a series of disc golf tournaments to be held in Teton Village this summer. The 10 hole course starts uphill from the bottom of the Gondola. It winds its way up Eagle’s Rest Cutoff and over to the top of Eagle’s Rest Lift, and then descends back to the bottom of Lower Werner.
Although the course in Teton Village has taken a back seat to mountain bike expansion, a number of holes offer challenging and scenic shots. The classic #8 hole, featured in the video below, drops nearly 90 feet in elevation and is a favorite of many. The layout is best suited for disc tossers with a well rounded game. Opportunities for birdies are few and far between, so be sure to take advantage of them if given the chance.
