Hundred Days

03/11/11

the Mountain Pulse Jackson Hole Skiing Snowboarding

Restless with anticipation, heads hit pillows early last night. Though raining in town, webcams and positive thinking forecasted powder on the morrow, sending rampant stoke through Jackson Hole. Yet around 6 A.M., when the snow phone was barraged like a pop station giving away Hansen reunion tickets, “6 inches in 24 hours” was the uneventful report. Yes, a half-a-foot is plenty. But half-a-foot resting atop a primer of frozen rain is far the bottomless ecstasy of last night’s dreams. With that said, it was a lackluster morning with folks trickling in throughout the afternoon. Fortunately the sun emerged just before noon, softening the hard pack and lifting discouraged spirits.
