Hundred Days

02/11/11

The Mountain Pulse Jackson Hole Skiing Snowboarding

Pass Lap

By noon, the parking lot at the Pass was at capacity. Drivers stalked spots of departing vehicles with as much graciousness as their powder itch would allow. Once parked, the Mountain Pulse crew hit the Glory Bowl bootpack. As happens to the overzealous, we punched out the first half vigorously, paying little mind to how much gas we had in the tank. Reaching the top, I sputtered across the finish like a broken down jalopy.

Though the day began bluebird, a gray front had since moved in and reduced visibility to a bus length. Following a quick beacon check, we clipped in and navigated cautiously down to Second Turn. Below the cloud line, clarity returned to the scene, revealing our well-earned reward. After recent days of picking at scarps in and around the Village, the bounty of Teton Pass reminded us how fortunate we are to live in this Valley.
