The Mountain Pulse Jackson Hole

Little overnight snow sent powderhounds to the bootpacks this morning, as The Headwall, Casper, and The Crags were opened at the morning gun. After trudging up Pepi’s Bench or White Spider, many enjoyed light powder that exploded around their knees and chest with each turn.
I opted for the route less taken, hiking up from Apres Vous for Shot 2. While the bootpack showed fresh footsteps, the descent was pristine and unblemished, a blank canvas waiting for an artist’s long continuous brush stroke. Coming to the landmark boulder visible from the A.V. lift, I tightened my boots, dialed in a jam, and shoved off into a playground of little kickers and deep turns.
